Unique Tolkien Themed Gift

Post by Cloak-n-Dagger » Thu Dec 28, 2017 4:59 pm

This Christmas, Jen mentioned that she bought me something custom made. She said three different people had worked together to make it and needless to say, she piqued my interest.

When she finally gave it to me I was somewhat floored seeing it for the first time. It turns out, she had a custom air plant terrarium made for me, themed on JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit.

The maker on Etsy was not familiar with The Hobbit well enough, so she had to send them pictures. They in turn, had to contact some other artists to craft the door (on which she insisted they carve Gandalf's rune), the flower pot, and the Bilbo figure. When all was said and done, they shipped me the glass housing, the air plants, living moss, small rocks, and other bits of nature, along with the custom items. I had to assemble everything myself so I designed it the best way I could. I thought it came out looking very well. It's super easy to manage, just a little indirect light and daily moisture on the air plant. This, by far, was one of the best gifts I've ever received.
